About The Owner
My name is Nicole and I opened The Purple Poodle Co. in 2019. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a Concentration in Creative Writing. And then somehow, I ended up working in accounting/payroll/human resources for nearly 15 years. Talk about life throwing you a curveball!
The Purple Poodle Company was born on a complete whim. I had absolutely zero experience in retail, merchandising, or customer service. I had never even worked with the public before. But I knew I wanted a fun and inclusive space for all shoppers to enjoy a little retail therapy. Over time, The Poodle grew from a retail space of 2,000 square feet to a staggering 10,000 square feet!
But first and foremost, I'm a wife and mom, and my family is my number one priority. More growth at The Poodle, while exciting, meant less time with my husband and kids, so in the spring of 2024, I decided to close the storefront permanently. So now The Purple Poodle Company is exclusively online, and I absolutely love this balance. I'm home with my kids (and dogs!), but still bringing you the things you didn't know you needed. Or wanted.
So! A little bit more about me. My husband and I have been together for 19 years and we have three children ages 15, 13, and 10. We also have four dogs and 2.5 plants, and honestly, I find raising plants way harder than raising kids. I have a Christmas cactus that's currently dying a slow death, hence the half a plant description. I love grammar and I hate math. My hobbies include reading, writing, and power washing (seriously). I use my washing machine every single day and I even do laundry on vacation. I'm highly introverted but enjoy a quick comeback. I love a slow morning and cold weather. And I love shopping and sharing all of this with you.
